Hattie Griggs

Licensed Acupuncturist (L.Ac.), founder

I opened Taper because the people I most wanted to see could not come at nine in the morning.

I grew up in the Bronx and watched people I love work double shifts and sit up through the night with a parent. Most clinics keep office hours. I wanted one that keeps theirs.

I keep the practice small on purpose: one room, one acupuncturist, one visit at a time. I will always tell you what I plan to do before I do it, and you can say no to any part of it.

I am not a replacement for your doctor or your therapist. If something I hear in the room tells me you need one, I will say so.

How the clinic runs

Taper is one room on Williamsbridge Road. Hattie is the only practitioner, so you see the same person every time, and she keeps the schedule around the hours her clients actually work.

There is no waiting room full of other people. When you arrive, the lamps are low and the table is ready. Visits start on time, and Hattie leaves a few minutes at the end so you are not rushed out the door.

Text or call if your shift runs late. We would rather move your visit than have you hurry.
