Care

Acupressure

Steady pressure with the hands on points along the arms, legs and back. No needles.

Acupressure uses the same map of points as acupuncture, with pressure instead of needles. Hattie presses each point slowly, for a few breaths, and asks you how it feels.

It is a good fit if needles worry you, if you want a gentler first visit, or if you simply want to lie down and be looked after for an hour.

What a visit is like, in order

  1. 01

    Step 1: We talk

About ten minutes on your week and what you want from the visit.

  2. 02

    Step 2: You settle in

Fully clothed, on a padded table, with a blanket if you like.

  3. 03

    Step 3: The pressure

Hattie presses points one at a time. You say if it is too much, and she eases off.

  4. 04

    Step 4: The plan

She suggests what comes next. You decide.

Before and after

  • What you may feel afterward

Many people feel loose and sleepy. Some feel mild tenderness where Hattie pressed, which fades within a day or two.

  • Tell us first

Pregnancy, blood thinners or a bleeding disorder, a recent injury or surgery, and any area that is already tender. Hattie adjusts, or suggests other care.

  • How many visits

Hattie suggests a plan, often a few visits close together and then fewer. It is her plan for you, never a promise.

What it does not do, and when to see a doctor instead

  • It does not replace your doctor, your medicine or emergency care.
  • It does not promise a result, and results vary from person to person.
  • It does not stand in for therapy or other care you need.

See a doctor first for sudden, severe pain, chest pain, trouble breathing, new weakness or numbness, or loss of bladder or bowel control. In an emergency, call 911.

What will it cost?

Hattie gives you the fee before the first needle. Read how fees work, or call and ask.
